About Kay
Dial

Kay Dial is a retired nurse living in Dallas, Texas. She has a Humanities degree from LSU and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from Baylor University. After working in critical care, public schools, and immigrant and refugee care, she retired to travel and write.

“While working on a book, Kay interviewed dozens of current and former Buna residents. Along with local history, they shared compelling personal accounts, painting a vivid picture of life in Buna during the decade of 1965-75.

Now, in a series of personal profiles, Kay shares their stories. She highlights the unique culture of the region and brings life to a remote corner of Southeast Texas. The profiles show how these citizens set an example of service. They gave time, and used their influence to build and sustain their community through a decade of turmoil and change.
